Cairo Tower - is a free-standing television tower in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. It stands on Zamalek Island, in the city centre.
Its height is 187 metres, making it 43 metres taller than the Great Pyramid of Cheops in Giza, which lies 15 km to the south-west of the tower.
The Cairo Tower was built between 1956 and 1961. Its exterior decoration is meant to resemble a lotus flower. At the top there is an observation deck, and below it a revolving restaurant, popular with tourists and locals alike.
