The Unfinished Obelisk in Aswan

Tours often visit the "unfinished obelisk", which still lies in place, attached to the bedrock on one side. Located in the northern part of the quarries, this gigantic piece of granite was meant to be an obelisk and is commonly attributed to Queen Hatshepsut; it is very similar to her obelisk in the Karnak Temple in Luxor.

Some small reliefs show the methods used to transport the obelisk, where you can see the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari.
